High Performance Conditioner
Intensive conditioning at regular intervals
The concept of rapid wilting using the Vicon HPC system is
based on speeding this whole process up by removing a large amount
of water from the crop in a matter of hours rather than days. This
is achieved by intensive conditioning of the crop at very regular
intervals all along the stem and leaf, dramatically increasing the
potential for moisture to escape from within the cells of the
plant. After intensive conditioning the crop is then carefully
spread across the complete surface area of the field in a very
even layer, maximizing the evaporation potential of the prevailing
weather conditions.

How the HPC system works
The HPC conditioner can be fitted to Vicon front mounted and
trailed disc mowers. It's main components are two rollers which
directly take the cut forage off the mowing unit. One roller is
fitted with nylon brushes whilst the other roller which rotates
slightly faster, is a "cage" roller made up of hardened
steel bars. As a result of the difference in speed, the forage is
positively pressed by the fast rotating cage roller through the
bristles of the brush roller. The result is an intensive
conditioning effect evenly throughout the crop. Once conditioned
by the rollers, the stream of forage is guided by a deflector
plate towards a lateral distributor roller which is driven by the
forage itself and spreads it in a zigzag pattern over the full
cutting width. The grass is abraded uniformly along the crop stem
without fragmenting the material. The thicker the crop material
the deeper it is forced into the brushes. This means that the
conditioning effect is independent of forward speed. Swath doors
are available as an option.
