Intensive conditioning at regular intervals
The concept of rapid wilting using the Vicon HPC system is based on speeding this whole process up by removing a large amount of water from the crop in a matter of hours rather than days. This is achieved by intensive conditioning of the crop at very regular intervals all along the stem and leaf, dramatically increasing the potential for moisture to escape from within the cells of the plant. After intensive conditioning the crop is then carefully spread across the complete surface area of the field in a very even layer, maximizing the evaporation potential of the prevailing weather conditions.
